Backstreet Boys is the eponymous debut studio album by Backstreet Boys, released on May 6, 1996, through Jive Records in Germany. All of those singles were later released on the second self-titled debut in the United States in 1997, which compiled songs from this album, and their second international release Backstreet's Back. The album has sold over 38 million copies worldwide (14 million in the United States) and settled a record for the most successful debut album in history. The album was first released in Germany on May 6, 1996, where the group was based at the time. It was then released in Switzerland followed by Austria. It debuted at #1 in Germany, Norway, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Finland, Austria and Canada.
