Album
Baby is Trotsky Icepick's 1988 album released on SST Records. It was the second album by the band and last with the original quartet of band members, Vitus Mataré (vocals, guitars), Kjehl Johansen (guitars, vocals, John Rosewell (bass) and Jason Kahn (drums). The album is a fantasitc mix of Californian-tinged post-punk mixed with tight pop melodies and jarring guitar riffs. Themes inlcuded on the album include the cult of celebrity illustrated by the tongue-in-cheek lyrics on "Bury Maniolow" plus a scathing commentary on commercialism with "Don't Buy It". Other notable songs include the blissful "Mar Vista Bus Stop" and the humourous "Robitussin Rag" and "A Little Push At The Top of the Stairs".
