"Apricot Jam" is Anri's very first studio album, released on November 21, 1978 under For Life Records. When she was only 17 years old. "After a family friend who was a prominent TV director heard her and asked if i would like to be a professional singer; eventually hooked me up with different production people and a record company. They gave me songs to choose from and, I had many favorites, but I picked a few of them, did a demo and this led to my recording of "γͺγͺγγ’γθ΄γγͺγγ (Olivia Wo Kikinagara)". Anri's debut single. "Shortly after that, on my one month summer holiday from school, I visited LA and had the incredible experience of recording at A&M Records. It was the most amazing thing to meet Karen Carpenter who was recording in another room and to walk down the hall and see Minnie Riperton." The album blends funk soul pop, j-pop, city pop; the album is filled with ballads and slow jam vocal songs. It reached #51 on the weekly Oricon chart, and continued to rank for a total of eight weeks, selling 12,530 copies.
