Album
"Appetite for Destruction" is the debut studio album by the American hard rock band Guns N' Roses, released on July 21, 1987, by Geffen Records. The album was recorded between January 18 and June 23, 1987, and produced by Mike Clink. Upon its initial release, it attracted limited mainstream attention. However, it achieved widespread commercial success the following year after extensive touring and increased radio and television exposure from the singles "Welcome to the Jungle," "Paradise City," and "Sweet Child o' Mine." The album eventually reached number one on the US Billboard 200 and became the best-selling debut album in the United States, as well as the seventh best-selling album in the country overall. With over 30 million copies sold worldwide, it is among the best-selling albums globally. Five singles were released from the album: "It's So Easy" paired with "Mr. Brownstone," "Welcome to the Jungle," "Sweet Child o' Mine," "Paradise City," and "Nightrain." "Sweet Child o' Mine" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, while "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Paradise City" peaked at numbers 7 and 5 respectively. Although early reviews were mixed, the album has since been recognised by critics as one of the greatest rock albums of all time. In 2018, it was reissued as a remastered box set, receiving renewed critical acclaim and returning to the top 10 of the Billboard 200 over three decades after its original release.
