Apocalyptic Hamartia's debut, self-published, self-titled album was composed, recorded, and mixed over a period of several years. Its sound ranges from epic synth soundscapes to solo piano, with a marked avoidance of percussion. Vocals only occur in two tracks, with the majority of the album's 66 minutes used to develop and explore contemplative melodic themes. The structural approach of the title track is reminiscent of early works by Mike Oldfield and Enya; but by the end of the album, the artist's style becomes almost completely atmospheric, using piano-based themes in repetitious contrapuntal cascades.
