about this album

This album was inspired partly by Catherine's experience taking part in the Occupy Wall Street protest where she was arrested. While she had explored political songwriting earlier such as with her song Unsteady Ground, this album was almost wholly politically themed. The album was less popular than her previous but it nevertheless began the move away from more standard singer-songwriter fare with a bigger focus on rhythm and percussion that she would continue to explore on her follow up collaborative album with jazz drummer Chris Johnedis.
