Orippua's debut album "Am I Free" presents a question "am I 100% free?". The question is directed to themselves as artists who create music, and to themselves as beings. The 9 songs have individual styles and character, breaking through the dense walls that categorize modern pop music with countless names. Even within each song the chords and rhythm freely take on varying forms. The songs feature irregular time signatures that complement unique character of Korean language, as well as sequential modulation that you would encounter in classical music. One important aspect of their music is the lyrics that encourage us to reflect on our inner selves, rather than focusing on the outer issues such as relationship between people or criticism on society. The music created on those lyrics is cheerful, sad, amusing, depressing, sometimes destructive, and beautiful. They take on every step of the creative process for however long it takes, including composition, lyrics, arrangements, performance, and mixing, as they wish to express their philosophy clearly and consistently, free of any external influence.
