Alternative Trap is the debut mixtape by Chicago rapper LUCKI. The existence of Alternative Trap can be dated as far back as December 30, 2012, in a video where LUCKI attended a listening party for TheBakersShop. In the video, Lucki announces the project’s expected release in February. It’s also worth noting the mixtape was delayed more than twice, revealed in an article by ELEVATOR, in which the album was expected to release on June 21, 2013—which would completely miss it’s release date more than month later. “Be sure to get #AlternativeTrap June 21, 2013.” On July 16, 2013, would post a promotional video for the listening party of Alternative Trap on July 24th. The mixtape would then release the next day. The Alternative rollout officially started on April 4, 2013 with the lead single “Count On Me”, which would be praised by the likes of Justin Timberlake and Pharrell Williams. Eventually, “No Troubles” would follow through 24 days later. The tracks “Nicky Wilson” and “Everything Out$ide” would also make an appearance on the project.
