Album
Alma De Diamante is Spinetta Jade’s debut studio album, recorded in 1980. The album was previewed in August of that same year at the Estadio Obras Sanitarias. The album consists of seven tracks composed by Spinetta, inspired by his readings of four books related to shamanism by anthropologist Carlos Castaneda: The Teachings of Don Juan, A Separate Reality, Journey to Ixtlan, and Tales of Power. Spinetta stated that Castaneda’s work was of enormous importance to him, marking a turning point in Latin American literature, highlighting above all its departure from Eurocentric cultural frameworks. But he also explained that his songs on the album do not express an identification with Castaneda’s thinking.
