Aftermath is the soundtrack for Mark Jackson's film War Story, performed by Amy Lee (the singer of Evanescence) and featuring musicians Dave Eggar, Chuck Palmer, singer Malika Zarra and more. It was released on August 25, 2014 to the iTunes Store, Amazon.com and Google Play only as a digital EP with no physical release. Amy first revealed that she and Dave Eggar scored the film War Story in December 2013 on Twitter. A month later in January 2014, she had an interview with MTV News where she revealed that the new material is going to "suprise" her fans. She explained: "It's going to surprise my fans. It's not what youβd expect; the film is very dark, very introspective. There's not even a lot of dialogue, which is great, because to me it makes this beautiful, sad platform for music. There's a lot of blending of sounds, a lot of ominous tones. I play a lot of keyboard, and a lot of Taurus pedal. There's a lot of low drones." The recording process for the album took a period of about a year and a half, from 2013 to 2014. Dave Eggar stated in an interview that the process of the recording was "really fun" and that they changed many things during this process. He also said that they decided to add music which was inspired by the film but not included on it, so that the listener could become a "part of journey".
