Demo Review - ManchesterMusic.co.uk :: The Tapestry :: 30 November 2010 / Demo / 3 Trk CDR By JA Manchester quartet The Tapestry mix early US indie rock with the contemporary hooks of anytown’s guitar band scene. “My Phoney War” has a respectable amount of the American 1977 new wave movement in it (think along the lines of scene precursors Television and Flamin’ Groovies). This discipline is lost a little on the self titled “The Tapestry”, which seems to prefer a diversion into some Euro-Gyspy swaggering - whilst that’s less memorable and perhaps a little obvious, it’s down to the final track, powered by the spirit of grunge pop and sparkling, off kilter pop interludes. The Tapestry’s sparse but obvious sophistication allows “Sink Or Swim” to morph into their best track. Ones to watch.
