First full length album for the East Midlands Noise niks. Sixteen Bit was recorded over a period of time using guerrilla recording tactics at a number of locations with a variety or producers initially under contract for Nottingham based label Seismic before the label's financial difficulties led to the original master tapes being impounded by a pressing plant over non-payment of bills by Seismic. Recording locations included a print works in Northampton, a disused pub in Leicester and a number of abandoned offices. The album was eventually released under the band’s own label 'Field records' started by the bands guitarist Tim Waterfield which later went on to be a home for a number of international post-rock acts long after Ann Arbor had called it a day. The album attracted favourable reviews in the rock press and the band enjoyed a number of successful tours promoting it.
