This is Odd Future’s first compilation album, and third group compilation release. Odd Future’s first two group releases were mixtapes. These mixtapes were "The Odd Future Tape" from 2008, and "Radical" from 2010. This is also Odd Future’s first release to be officially released digitally through a streaming/purchasing service (iTunes) on October 3, 2011. Despite being called "12 Odd Future Songs", there are actually 13 tracks on the album. The thirteenth track is by Odd Future Records resident neo-soul band The Internet, composed of singer and producer Syd The Kyd and producer Matt Martians.
